ABOUT THE DEKALB COMMUNITY ACADEMY
The DeKalb Community Academy is an initiative aimed at empowering communities and fostering partnerships through education on policy, zoning, land-use, and other planning-related matters. Our goal is to advance the vision of a livable, equitable, sustainable, beautiful, and prosperous DeKalb County. The Academy will eventually serve all districts within unincorporated DeKalb County through a series of trainings and educational resources.
The “Community 101” program is a newly launched training under the DeKalb Community Academy and is designed to provide tailored training to residents in unincorporated DeKalb, equipping them with essential knowledge about the services offered by the DeKalb County Planning & Sustainability Department.
Specifically, this training will cover the main services offered under the Long Range Planning and Current Planning divisions. Areas of topics include but are not limited to:
What is Planning?
Understanding the 2050 Unified Plan (Comprehensive Plan)
Land Use, Activity Centers, and Amendment Processes
Transportation
Sustainability
If interested in future training opportunities, please subscribe to this project page using the toolbar on your right or sign up for the Engage DeKalb website to receive all Planning & Sustainability department project announcements.
