Join us next year in celebrating World Planning Day 2026!

This year, the DeKalb County Planning & Sustainability Department hosted World Planning Day on Saturday, November 15th, 2025, from 11 AM to 3 PM. The event took place at the Rainbow Park Amphitheatre (3181 Rainbow Drive, Decatur, GA 30034), and we hosted around 250 community members and leaders!

This annual event focuses on good urban planning, community engagement, education about careers in urban planning, and family-friendly fun!


What happened this year

Guests met with our local partners and professional planners, enjoyed some great food trucks, took home some exciting giveaways and resources, and became champions for your community at this year's World Planning Day!

For the 2025 World Planning Day event, the Planning & Sustainability Department hosted a Middle School Art Contest. The contest invited contestants enrolled in DeKalb County Middle Schools to illustrate the future of their community and bring a global perspective to a creative goal.

    For the 2025 World Planning Day event, the Planning & Sustainability Department will be hosting a Middle School Art Contest. The contest invites contestants enrolled in DeKalb County Middle Schools to illustrate the future of their community and bring a global perspective to a creative goal.


    Contest Guidelines:

    • Open to all DeKalb County Middle School Students (Grades 6-8)
    • Artwork must be two-dimensional and no greater than 11" x 16"
    • Artwork should be focused on topics such as community, sustainability, beautification, transportation, etc., while answering the question “What does community look like to you?”
    • Theme: Think Global, Plan Local
    • Deadline: Wednesday, October 1st, 2025Deadline extended to Friday, October 24th!
