Thank you to all those who attended!
The DeKalb County Planning and Sustainability Department, Super District 6 Commissioner Ted Terry, and 20+ other organizations collaborated for a day of education, celebration, and action at our family-friendly World Planning Day featuring the DeKalb Green New Deal Festival! Around 200 community members got to enjoy food trucks, music, eco-friendly workshops, and inspiring connections centered on community building and environmental justice.
Together, we’re creating a greener future for all!
What went on this year?
We explored how thoughtful planning can address key issues like housing, climate, energy, and transportation. We invited over 20+ organizations to join us including Microlife, ARC, the Lifecycle Building Center, MARTA, and more!
On World Planning Day, planners and communities worldwide come together to celebrate how good planning improves people's lives and benefits society at large, creating places to live, work, and play together. World Planning Day is held on November 08th of every year. To accommodate the scope of this year's event, however, we will be hosting the event on Saturday, November 09th!
What is the DeKalb Green New Deal?
The DeKalb Green New Deal is a people-powered organizing effort that will elevate the realities of the climate crisis, push for bold solutions, and help enact meaningful policy solutions to protect our communities. This looks like clean and efficient energy, conserving nature and ensuring it is accessible, and environmental justice and equity.
