The arts contribute to our individual well-being, the well-being of our communities and to our local economies.

What comes to mind when you think of art?

Public Art is not a particular “form.” It can be huge or small. It can be on the paving or sidewalks. It can be found on utility cabinets or even waste bins. It can also be found on the exterior of buildings and walls in our communities.

Candler Road is the perfect location for public art.

Public art is being planned along Candler Road between I-285 and Memorial Drive. Several catalytic possibilities are underway or are expected to begin soon along the corridor, making it the perfect location for a public art focus. Additionally, the 2050 DeKalb Unified Plan highlights the need for more art in public spaces throughout the county.

We Want to hear from you!

We're looking forward to working with you to understand the community's needs and vision for public art. Throughout this plan, we will:

  • Educate the community on the use of art to build community, spark creativity, and further development goals
  • Identify spaces ripe for activation
  • Collect input on the type and style of art that feels reflective and authentic to the surrounding areas
